The Strategic Role of the HR Function

Level 3 of the HR Staff Development Programme - Shaping the organisation and the manpower resource.

A 5-day course

For senior HR practitioners who have some power and influence to make incremental changes in organisational practice.

This programme is designed for people with some experience in HR issues who are able to contribute to changes in the way their HR Department operates. It would also be valuable for HR practitioners who seek some personal development and are seeking to generate a new and improved status for their HR department through the realisation of measurable outcomes that are valued.

The programme focuses on recent developments and latest thinking in HR Management, and evaluates them for practical application. Consideration is given to the key drivers for change in HRD in the last Decade - drawing out the impacts and implications. Participants explore the philosophy that HRD should generate a ROI and show measurable contribution to the organisation's goals, just as any other investment would be expected to achieve.

Corporate level knowledge management and performance management strategies are also discussed, as are global, demographic and environmental factors that impinge on the sustained performance of HR Managers and Departments.

Topics covered are likely to include:
  • The Changing Nature of Human Resources
  • HR of Tomorrow
  • Alignment of HR to Business Plans
  • HR as a Catalyst for Change
  • Building Human Capability
  • Developing Employee Contribution
  • HR Value Creation.
