This course uses the procurement cycle to introduce and explain some of the main processes involved when buying goods and services for organisations. It is particularly relevant for operational personnel who are to have responsibility for managing the procurement process, or who manage quotations and place orders
This course is designed for:  all operational personnel needing to gain an understanding of the principles of buyer; and staff who are responsible for any purchasing of goods for their organisation, whatever the value!
At the end of the course, participants will be able to
  • Appreciate why purchasing goods and services is such an important activity in any organisation.
  • Understand the different stages of the procurement cycle.
  • Appreciate the need for time when sourcing goods and services.
  • Learn about procurement models and segmentation.
  • Understand the market place.
Topics covered on this course will include:
  • The challenge and benefits of effective purchasing.
  • The procurement cycle.
  • What are specifications?
  • Market research.
  • Finding the right supplier
  • The differences between buying goods and services
  • Issuing tenders
  • Evaluating tenders
  • Procurement exercises
This course is intended to be hands on and will be in the form of a workshop so participants will have the opportunity to apply and develop their buying skills.

You will have an opportunity to ask questions and resolve any issues or concerns. Participants are encouraged  to bring your own purchasing issues so you can develop an appropriate solution within the class.

Each participant will prepare a personal action for themselves at the end of the course setting out what they intent to do differently. 

This course will be conducted in the English language.
