Expenditure on the materials needed for the construction of a project is a significant proportion of the total budget. And the timely delivery of those materials to the construction sites plays a vital role in achieving on-time project completion.

Furthermore, the longer term costs of operating & maintaining the new facility are greatly influenced by strategic procurement decisions taken during the project design & development stage.

This 3-day course is intended for staff involved in any aspects of setting and implementing project execution strategies that relate to the procurement process, typically:

* Materials staff assigned to Project Teams, such as Materials Coordinators

* Engineers and Managers having influence over Project Execution Strategies

* Project team members - such as Contracts, Finance, Quality Assurance

* Front line staff in Purchasing & Materials Management positions (such as Buying, Warehouse Management) and related support roles (such as Inventory Management, Materials Standardisation & Cataloguing).

By the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
  • Recognise where normal ‘day-to-day’ procurement strategies bring benefit when adopted within a project’s execution strategies.
  • Identify the role of the procurement professional during the various stages of a project, and his / her contribution in setting realistic project management controls (such as budget and timescale).
  • Understand the impact that different contracting strategies have upon the ability to influence procurement & supply strategies, for the project and for the longer term operational period.
  • Appreciate the fluid nature of a project organization through its various stages and the vital role of effective materials procurement, supply and logistics - from initial concept until project closeout and disposal of surplus materials.

10% discount is available on this course for members of AGCC.
