Supply Chain Management Training Courses
Materials Catalogues, Standardisation & Variety Control
Many organisations fail to recognise the significant contribution that effective catalogue management, standardisation & variety control can bring to the company.
A 3-day course
Benefits include significant price & internal cost reductions - and in the wider context, reflect the "professionalism" of the company"s Procurement, Supply and Materials Management to external bodies.
This 3-day course is intended for staff involved in the overall "procurement process" such as:
- technical and "end user" staff (in departments such as Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Projects departments) - who specify equipment & materials
- front line staff in Purchasing & Materials Management positions (such as Buying, Inventory Control, Warehouse Operations etc.)
By the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Understand the factors influencing the quality of a company"s own Materials Catalogue
- Discuss various forms of catalogue structure, coding & materials identification
- Appreciate the benefits from integration & use of the Catalogue data in a range of company activities
- Use the various definitions & terms used in materials cataloguing, standardisation and variety
- Recognise the key components needed for effective standardisation and variety control
- Understand the important relationships between materials catalogue, standardisation management and other key activities in successful Procurement, Supply and Materials Management activities - such as e-Procurement, Inventory Management & Warehouse Operations
- "Market/sell" the benefits of standardisation and variety control to staff in other departments - and understand the "team" approach needed to keep variety control an active process
- Establish "performance measurement criteria" aimed at demonstrating the business benefits of implementing and maintaining a high quality catalogue and achieving a standardisation "culture" within the company.
