Purchasing some of your requirements from overseas can be an important way of broadening your supplier base and of benefiting from real savings in cost.

Even allowing for transport, currency and importation expenses the total cost of procurement can often be very attractive and can allow you to purchase to your exact specification.

Many UK procurement professionals avoid purchasing from overseas in order to “keep things simple".  They believe it is much more difficult to deal with overseas suppliers than to stick with the local UK, market.
