How to Ensure Contractor HSE Performance

NOTE - this is NOT an "HSE course" - it is about ensuring that contractors implement appropriate HSE policies and practices.

A 2-day course.


This course will increase the recognition of the importance of HSE in contracts and the associated roles and responsibilities within company procedures together with the methodology, tools & techniques which should be used to achieve the objectives.
The course is designed for people from all functions who have a significant role in making sure that Contractors meet or exceed the required standards of HSE. This includes Contract Holders, Focal Points, Company Site Representatives, Company Representatives and selected Contractor staff as well as being relevant for Project Engineers and all personnel who have an interface with contractors.

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
  • Appreciate the importance of HSE to the company, the Contractor and the individual
  • Understand, explain and be able to implement the policy
  • Identify the steps in the process, & what needs to be done at each stage
  • Work as an integrated team with all relevant departments/personnel
  • Recognise and be able to apply the 3-stage HEMP process
  • Effectively pre-qualify contractors and vet their HSE plans
  • Run "kick-off" meetings to ensure a structured start to the contract
  • Identify KPI"s & be able to monitor & control to company requirements
  • Apply audit and inspection principles and procedures
  • Apply the learning back-at-work through contractors motivated to succeed
  • Correctly "Close-out" the contract/contractor and transfer the learning.
