Understand Personal Stress

How to reduce the effect of stress on your performance. The effects of stress can be both distressing for the individual and counter-productive for the organisation.

A 2-day course

In order to avoid the consequences of stress in the workplace, it is imperative to understand
• what stress is and how it is caused;
• the signs that indicate the presence of stress in yourself and in others;
• the implications of stress on performance; and
• what to do to minimise these implications

This workshop focuses on developing an awareness and understanding of stress within the workplace. It explores each of these aspects and in particular why it must be treated as a serious issue that needs to be managed effectively.

Delegates will have the opportunity to learn how to recognise stress in its various forms in themselves and their colleagues and why it is a major cause of under performance and absence from work.

They will develop an understanding of their own stress triggers, which is essential as it may save our health and even our life.

Equally, understanding the type of environment that fuels stress in the modern workplace is also important, enabling a stress management policy that minimise stress, yet, promotes harmonious yet effective performance.
At the end of the programme, students will be able to:
  • Recognise and appreciate their personal stress triggers and their resulting impacts
  • Recognise and understand the characteristics of workplace stress.
  • Promote, delegate or channel work demands and pressures in a way that reduces stress in the workplace.
  • Promote techniques and approaches that will reduce stress and hence increase morale and motivation
  • Prepare an Action Plan to change their personal management of their own stress.
